TANZANIA INSTITUTE OF FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Tanzania Institute of food Science and technology ni taasisi ambayo imeundwa kutoka kwenye chama kilichokuwa kikiitwa Tanzania association of food scientists and technologists ambacho kiliundwa mnamo mwaka 1993. TIFST imeanzindiliwa rasmi tarehe 13^th April 2012 na Mheshimiwa katibu wa wizara ya viwanda na biashara Bi Joyce Mapunjo, Ikijumuisha wajumbe mbalimbali kutoka mashirika ya umma na yale ya binafsi kama vile TFDA, TBS, ASAS na SIDO na wanafunzi kutoka chuo kikuu cha kilimo cha sokoine

Tanzania Institute of food science and technology imeanzishwa  baada ya kuona kuwa Tanzania association of food scientists and technologists ni ya kitaaluma zaidi  na ilikuwa haihusishi watu mbalimbali ambao walikuwa wakijihusisha na masuala mbalimbali ya chakula kama vile wasindikaji wadogo wadogo wa  vyakula

Mawazo ya kukianzisha chama hiki cha Tanzania Institute of Food Science and Technology yalianzishwa na DR Anne Perrera ambaye ni mwenyeji wa New Zealand kupitia New Zealand Institute of Food Science and Technology baada ya kufika Tanzania kama mtu wa kujitolea katika fani ya lishe na chakula SIDO Arusha. Baada ya kuwa amefika Tanzania DR Anne akiwa na mwenyeji wake ambaye ni Rose Maeda walifika mpaka Wizara ya mambo ya ndani kuangalia kama kuna chama chochote kile ambacho kimekwisha sajiliwa hapo ofisini ambacho kinajuhusisha na maswala ya chakula, ndipo walipoambiwa habari  ya TAFST. Baada ya maelezo ya kina kutoka ofisi ya msajili wa vyama walibaina kuwa baadhi ya viongozi wa TAFST wapo TFDA na ndipo walipofunga safari mpaka ofisi y a TFDA Kwa Wegenge ili kupata maelezo zaidi. Baada ya kupata maelezo ya kina kutoka kwa Wegenge pamoja na ofisi ya msajili wa vyama waligundua kuwa chama kilikuwa hakiko hai na baada ya kupitia pia katiba yake waligundua kuwa chama hicho yaani TAFST kilikuwa na mapungufu mengi kama vile chama kilikuwa cha kitaluma zaidi na kilikuwa hakiwapi nafasi watu ambao sio wanataaluma wa Sayansi ya chakula na Technologia. Hivyo DR Anne pamoja na Rose Maeda waliuamua kuanzisha mchakato wa kuanzisha chama kipya ambacho kitawajumisha wanataaluma ya sayansi ya chakula na technologia pamoja na wadau mbalimbali wanaojuhusisha na masuala ya chakula kama vile wasindikaji wadogo wadogo wa vyakula pamoja na kampuni kubwa kubwa ambazo zinajihusisha na masuala pia ya chakula. Waliamua kuwasiliana na wadau wachache wanajihusisha na masuala ya chakula kama vile Wahadhili kutoka chuo kikuu cha kilimo cha Sokoine idara ya chakula ambao ni Prof Tiisekwa, Prof Chove na Prof Laswai pamoja na wadau wengine ambao wameainishwa kwenye katiba. Wadau hawa waliamua kuipitia katiba ya TAFST kwa kina na kubaina mapungufu ambayo yalipelekea wote kwa pamoja kupendekeza na kuamua kuanzishwa kwa Tanzania Institute of Food Science and Technology kwa kutumia malekebisho ya katiba ya TAFST ikiwa ni pamoja na kuzingatia mifumo ya vyama kama hivyo Duniani

Mpaka sasa chama kimeshasajiliwa kwa msajili wa vyama ( MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS) na hakina ofisi lakini kwa sasa wanatumia ofisi za TPSF ambazo ziko Msasani chini ya viongozi wafuatao, m/kiti ni Neema D. Mrema ambaye ni Food technology specialists, na katibu wake ni  Rose Maeda ambaye ni Cluster development specialist.

Chama kitakuwa chini ya usimamizi wa wizara ya viwanda na biashara ingawa mapendekezo yao ya awali ilikuwa chama kiwe chini ya ofisi ya waziri mkuu. Utaratibu wa kutafuta sehemu ya ofisi wizara husika inashughulikia

Wadau ambao walihudhulia kikao ambacho kilifanyika Ubungo plaza walipata fulsa ya kuisoma katiba vizuri na kutoa mapendekezo yao ikiwamo suala la wanafunzi kuingia katika Board of Directors wote kulikubali suala hili. Baada ya mapendekezo na malekebisho mbalimbali kutoka kwa wadau katiba ilipitishwa na ndiyo sasa katiba ambayo inatumika sasa

Chama kwa sasa kiko kwenye michakato ifuatayo;  kujiunga na chama cha sayansi ya chakula na technolojia cha dunia (IUFOST), Usajili wa wanachama katika ngazi tofauti tofauti kama vile zilivyoainishwa kwenye katiba, upatikanaji wa nembo ya chama , kuongeza na kuanzisha vyanzo vya mapato kwa ajili ya shughuli mbalimbali za chama na upangaji wa mipango mbalimbali ya maendeleo ya chama.

Chama kitakuwa na aina kuu tano za uanachama kama vile zilivyo ainishwa kwenye katiba na kutakuwa na ada  ya uanachama kutokana na ngazi au aina ya uanachama ambao utakuwa nao, na kila mwanachama atatakiwa kujaza fomu za uanachama ikiwa ni pamoja na kufanya shughuli zote za chama .Imeandaliwa na;

I have received with grief the sad news about the death of one of our TAFST members.

On behalf of the association, I would like to extend my condolences to the relatives of the late Alphonce Sengerema, SUA TAFST leadership and members. Let us remained united at this critical period and I belive we will be able to overcome this moment of sadness. May the Almighty  GOD rest his soul in eternal peace.

Dear all
I am deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden demise of our beloved member of the fold. Let us pray to God that he gives us strength to confront the situation and more so to console the late Sengelema's family immediate family. Much as this has happened when I am out of station on other official duties, I am with you in the thick and thin of this. I am in constant contact with the acting Head of Department and I get all updates as well as sharing whatever information and consultations as far as the logistics are concerened.
May the Lord rest him in peace, Amen.

INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!

Tanzania Association of Food Scientists and Technologist (SUA BRANCH), Sadly informs you that one of our member namely ALPHONCE SENGEREMA hasa passed away. During his life he served TAFOST as a student member and until his death was a third year student persuing B.Sc Food Science and Technology.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes, in as much asthere is a sunrise there must be a sunset. The rejoicing over a birth will oneday become the tears of loss. This is a journey that we must all travel andright now it is a journey our dearly departed has chosen. We cannot hold himback, we could not make him stay, and sadly all we can do is let him go.

Pole iwafikie ndugu, jamaa na marafiki na kwa upande mweingine tunaungana na uongozi na walezi wote wa idara ya Sayansi ya Chakula na technolojia kushiriki msiba uliotupata kwa kuondokewa nampendwa mwanafunzi katika idara yetu.

It is our expectations that we shall be consolidatedtogether in this difficulty moments.

TANZANIA ASSOCIATION OF FOOD SCIENTISTS AND TECHNOLOGISTS

My name is Eston Yesaya, I served as TAFOST-student committee chairperson the year 2011. I pursued a bachelor degree of Food Science and Technology at Sokoine University of Agriculture. Throughout my academic life at SUA, I strongly involved in establishment of this association carrying the main objective of re-uniting all stakeholders in the food industry that previously got separated without organising themselves for any related business to share. Before commencement and legally get recognized, the association experienced so many challenges from both students and outsiders hereby referred to people out Food science and Technology field. The founders of TAFOST national wise need to be acknowledge and for SUA as branch, professor Chove and professor Tiisekwa cant be kept aside. Generally all students from different academic years played a potential role in establishment of  and strengthening the association. Non of us was the best, all among us we did the best.

I would like to request you all to participate equally in all associations’ plans and programs to enhance positive development of the association. This is the only way forward for claim presentation and education delivery concerning food science and technology industry in Tanzania.

It is my hope that the association becomes the voice of professionals, hope of Tanzanians against rapidly intrusion of poor quality food products. Being source of experts who are properly trained with over flowing ethics the nation may get rescued. This is only possible via independent professional body like TAFOST.

COME ONE COME ALL, TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE OUR ASSOCIAN STRONG AND PRODUCTIVE. This is to say welcome all FST first years students.
